Meet Melissa + Nikia

Board-Certified Women’s Health Nurse Practitioners

Melissa was born and raised in Middletown Indiana. She graduated from Shenandoah High School. She went on to Ivy Tech and completed an Associate's Degree in Medical Assisting in 1998. She worked in Internal Medicine and Urgent Care practices before heading to Ball State University, where she completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree in 2005.

After nursing school, Melissa worked in the Emergency Department at Community Hospital Anderson, also completing training for Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner. This sparked an interest in women's health. Transferring to the Labor and Delivery Unit, this is where Melissa found her true passion.

​

This passion led to Melissa enrolling in graduate school at IUPUI, completing her Master of Science in Nursing and Women's Health Nurse Practitioner degrees in 2010. Melissa is a Board-Certified Women's Health Nurse Practitioner. Melissa earned a Doctorate of Nursing Practice from Frontier Nursing University in 2021, where she was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society.

Her positions since becoming a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner include:

  • Community Health Network, OBGYN Care, 2011-2021

  • Spearheaded a GYN Clinic for uninsured/underserved women in Madison County, 2013-2021

  • Full-time Assistant Clinical Professor of Nursing, Ball State University, 2013-Present

Melissa enjoys helping women across the lifespan, while educating the importance of self care. Creating a positive patient experience is of utmost importance to Melissa. This led to her vision of opening a women's health practice. 

​

Melissa is married to her high school sweetheart, Stephen. They have one daughter named Libby, who keeps them on their toes. Melissa enjoys reading, spending time with her family and friends, and vacationing.

Nikia Beeson

Nikia was born and raised in Anderson. She attended Frankton High School. She completed her undergraduate education at Anderson University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2001. 

 

After nursing school, she worked at Riverview Hospital for a year and then started in Obstetrics at Community Hospital Anderson in 2002. She became a certified registered nurse (RNC-OB) in Inpatient Obstetrics. Nikia was promoted as OBGYN Educator of the Obstetric Unit in 2008. She was an instructor of Neonatal Resuscitation, Fetal Monitoring and Infant Stabilization courses from 2008 to 2012. Nikia was a Nursing Excellence Award Winner in 2009.

She started graduate school in 2009 at the University of Indianapolis. She earned Master of Science in Nursing and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner degrees in May 2012. She graduated with Sigma Theta Tau honors. Nikia is a Board-Certified Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner.

 

Her positions since becoming a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner include:

  • IU School of Medicine Center of Excellence, Women’s Wellness on Wheels, 2012-2013

  • Madison County Health Department, STD Clinic, 2012-2019

  • HealthNet, OBGYN Clinics, 2012-2013

  • Community Health Network, OBGYN Care, 2012-2021 

 

Nikia loves caring for women across the lifespan. She takes pride in making each woman feel comfortable and cared for while in her care. 

​

Nikia has been married to her husband Ryan since 2001. They have two children, Macy and Maverick. She enjoys boating, fishing, and watching her kids golf. Nikia also runs an event styling business called New Leaf Events, to fulfill her passion for decorating.
